The Theme For World Chagas Day, 2024 is:
Detect Early and Follow Up
What happens when a patient finds out they have Chagas disease? They receive a letter informing them of being identified as having Chagas and are recommended to contact their primary physician immediately. But, when the primary physician isn’t familiar with or doesn’t feel comfortable treating the disease, where can the patient go?
This year, the focus is to bring awareness to Primary Health Care Providers and encourage them to include testing as routine procedure for all patients. How can we do this?
Talk about Chagas disease to your primary provider.Make them aware of the impact it is making in the lives of humans, pets, wildlife, and plants. Do not be afraid to speak up. Reach out to offer resources to providers as well as patients.
Be visible, be active, and be aware!
